Overview
Mem
An AI-powered smart note-taking tool that automatically organizes, connects, and retrieves your ideas and meeting notes.
Mem is an AI-native note-taking tool built around a “zero-organization” philosophy — you just capture, and the AI takes care of categorizing, linking, and retrieval. Through semantic understanding, it automatically weaves scattered notes, meeting records, and fragments of ideas into a meaningful knowledge network, and supports natural-language queries (such as “last week’s discussion about the product launch”). In 2026, Mem 2.0 introduced multimodal capabilities: images, voice, and files can be embedded directly in your notes, with the AI automatically extracting key information and building cross-modal connections.
The free plan includes basic note-taking and AI search; Pro at $10/month unlocks unlimited AI organization, priority support, and team collaboration workspaces; the Team plan is billed per seat. What sets Mem apart is “proactive note-taking” — it doesn’t just help when you search: it also surfaces relevant notes as you write, and automatically generates meeting summaries linked to the corresponding projects.
In terms of market positioning, Mem targets the gap between Notion and Obsidian: lighter than Notion, smarter than Obsidian. It’s especially well-suited to knowledge workers who need to capture quickly but don’t want to spend time organizing — product managers, researchers, journalists, and founders. Compared with Notion AI, Mem’s AI is part of its underlying architecture rather than a bolt-on feature, and connections between notes are established automatically rather than through manual linking.
Note: Mem is currently aimed primarily at English-speaking users, and its Chinese semantic understanding is still being optimized; on mobile, the iOS experience is the best, while the Android version lags behind in features; team collaboration only launched in March 2026 and is still maturing as it catches up with Notion.
