Overview

Suno

The benchmark for AI music generation: v5 vocals that come close to real singers, 12-stem export straight into your DAW, and friendly terms for commercial release.

Suno is the benchmark for AI music generation. V5 (September 2025) pushed vocals to a “close to real human” level — natural vibrato, breaths, and phrasing, with the mechanical feel all but eliminated. A song can be split into up to 12 time-aligned stem WAVs, ready to drop into Ableton, Logic, or FL Studio for further polish. V5.5 (March 2026) added Voice Capture voice cloning (clone your own voice to sing), and the Premier tier includes Suno Studio, a browser-based multi-track workstation. According to official figures, users generate about 7 million songs per day, and the company closed a $250 million Series C at a $2.45 billion valuation at the end of 2025.

Pricing comes in three tiers: the Free plan includes 50 credits per day (roughly 10 songs, non-commercial use only); Pro at $10/month includes 2,500 credits plus commercial rights; Premier at $30/month includes 10,000 credits plus the Studio workstation. Commercial rights come only with paid subscriptions — if you want to put your songs on Spotify/Apple Music or use them in monetized videos, Pro is the minimum.

Compared with its longtime rival Udio, Suno’s advantages are vocals, complete pop/rock songs, and stem export; the more decisive dividing line, however, is policy: after settling with Universal, Udio shut down downloads and stems and became a listen-online-only walled garden, while Suno still lets you export and release your music — for creators who want to take their work with them, this is virtually the only option.

A word of caution: Warner settled with Suno and signed a licensing agreement in November 2025, at the cost of older models trained without authorization (V4.5 and earlier) being gradually retired — remember to export your older works in time; lawsuits from Universal and Sony remain unresolved; cloning someone else’s voice violates the Terms of Service; commercial rights are tied to the plan active at generation time, so confirm your subscription is still valid before releasing.
